With effect from 1 July 2017, Oliver Jacob, CEO of TÜV Italia, will also head TÜV SÜD's business activities in Western Europe.
Western Europe is one of the hub regions of the global testing and certification market. As the home of 2,800-plus staff, it is also one of TÜV SÜD's core regions. Oliver Jacob sees additional potential in this region: “We aim to pool our forces to further expand TÜV SÜD's presence throughout Europe, by collaborating even more closely in areas such as large-scale projects and invitations to tender. Customers will benefit from an even broader portfolio of high-quality cross-border services.”
While TÜV SÜD has already positioned itself as one of the market leaders in the UK, Spain and Italy in industries such as aerospace, energy and automotive, further market opportunities are emerging in France, the Benelux region and Scandinavia. “However, we have also identified various opportunities for growth in Italy, Spain and the UK”, explains Jacob, and continues, “TÜV SÜD has evolved into a global player; we support customers across all five continents, and the majority of our 24,000 employees work at international level. Our intensive transfer of know-how and best practices ensures the highest TÜV SÜD quality is maintained throughout all countries, while improving efficiency in order handling – and that, of course, benefits our customers.”
Strong position in Spain
In early 2016, TÜV SÜD increased its holding in Spanish ATISAE Group from 45 % to 100 %. With 1,300-plus staff generating sales revenue in excess of EUR 80 million, ATISAE is one of the leading suppliers of testing services on the Iberian peninsula. “Besides being the fifth largest national economy in the European Union, Spain is also the second largest car manufacturer in the EU, has the longest motorway network in the EU and ranks fourth worldwide in terms of installed wind-power capacity. ATISAE’s wide range of services and nationwide presence in Spain offer TÜV SÜD an excellent basis for rolling out further TÜV SÜD services there”, says Jacob.
Oliver Jacob joined TÜV SÜD in 2009. He was appointed CEO of TÜV SÜD's national entity, TÜV Italia, in June 2015. Prior to his move to Italy, he headed the Strategy and Innovation corporate function.
