TÜV SÜD ATISAE has signed a contract for the homologation audits of entities in charge of maintenance (ECM) on behalf of the Spanish State Railway Safety Agency AESF (Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Ferroviaria). The annual audits are a prerequisite for placing rolling stock into service in the EU Member State.
“We signed the contracts with AESF this March”, says Mr Francisco Ruiz Morote, Key Account Manager at TÜV SÜD in Spain. “Our services enable the Spanish approval bodies to document their continued compliance with the large number of legal requirements.” The contract applies to all railway maintenance centres approved by Spanish Ministerial Order FOM 233/2006 (Approval and maintenance) and entities in charge of maintenance (ECM) (Entidades Encargadas de Mantenimiento, EEM) certified according to Regulation (EU) No. 445/2011 for the maintenance of freight wagons. The objective is to ensure that these maintenance centres operate in compliance with Spanish and European regulations.
The responsibilities of AESF include annual audits and inspections to verify that these maintenance centres and ECMs are operating in compliance with legal requirements. To verify their continued compliance with legal requirements and the demands of the certification scheme, AESF must carry out annual monitoring and audits. In all of these responsibilities AESF fully relies on collaboration with, and the expertise of, TÜV SÜD ATISAE.
